Commemorating the Centenary of the Start of World War One

As you are no doubt aware, there are a number of events being held across Oxfordshire to commemorate the centenary of the First World War. OCC is keen to encourage events, particularly those that offer a chance for reflection and to remember the role of the county's residents in the conflict.

The events and activities are being publicised on their website:

Groups and organisations are being encouraged to take part in LIGHTS OUT, a national event to commemorate and reflect on the centenary of the start of the First World War. LIGHTS OUT is a project which is inviting everyone in the UK to turn off their lights frmo 10pm – 11pm on the 4th August, leaving on a single light or candle for a shared  moment of reflection.
