Some of you may be aware of the recent formation of a Henley branch line users group. This came about as a result of a public meeting convened by Henley MP John Howell, who arranged for First Great Western and Network Rail to come and meet rail users in Henley. Some of those present joined together to form a user group, initial meetings led to an AGM and more recently, committee meetings have been held in Henley, Shiplake and Wargrave, with the next one scheduled to take place in Twyford.
Meanwhile, we are trying to reach out into the hinterland around Henley and all of those people who regard the branch line as their access to the rail network, whether as daily commuters or occasional travellers. There are big projects afoot, with the introduction of Crossrail and electrification and these will have huge implications for the future of our rail service.
We would encourage you to use whatever means possible to advertise the existence of HBUG and encourage as many people as possible to join it.
You will find below copies of our constitution – which includes details of how to join HBUG and see up to date information – as well as our first Bulletin.
We are trying to contact as many council representatives as possible and would propose a meeting in Henley of all interested parish councils, sometime after the May elections. If a representative from your council is interested in attending such a meeting, where some of our well informed committee members will be able to answer questions, we would be pleased to organise it.
To join the group mailing list in order to keep up to date and join discussion, write to us at firstname.lastname@example.org
With best wishes
