A total of £180,000 is now available for good causes in South Oxfordshire through the district councillor’s grant scheme.
South Oxfordshire District Council’s 36 councillors have £5,000 each to award to charities or community groups that are working on projects to benefit their local community.
Last year, councillors awarded 106 grants worth over £154,000 to community projects across the district including community ponds, new football goal posts, play area improvements, new kitchens in village halls, community events, purchasing defibrillators and youth club equipment.
Cllr Lynn Lloyd, Cabinet Member for Community Services at South Oxfordshire District Council, said, “We’ve committed over £1 million to support our communities this year and have already given away £700,000 to 17 major community projects.”
“This scheme supports smaller good causes and offers a quick turnaround on decisions. If you represent a local charity or community group, then head to our website and apply.”
