A Word from a ‘Good Neighbour’

I am  the support coordinator for Good Neighbour Schemes in Oxfordshire.

Many of you will already have a Good Neighbour Scheme in your parish – there
are more than 70 in operation across Oxfordshire.  Local volunteers provide
transport, befriending and many other services such as gardening, odd jobs,
or collecting prescriptions to older, vulnerable or lonely people in our
communities.  The services provided depend on the local needs.

Details of schemes are included in AgeUK’s Community Information Directory.
My role is to provide guidance to set up a scheme and ongoing support, plus
we offer membership of our group insurance and free dbs checks through
AgeUK.  For more details please contact me or for more information look at
our website www.vlu.org.uk <http://www.vlu.org.uk>  and follow the link for
Good Neighbour Schemes.
