Gillotts School Public Consultation

Gillotts School Public Consultation

Gillotts School has, since it became an academy in 2012, mirrored the published LA admission arrangements for Years 7 to 11 at community and voluntary controlled secondary schools.  However the school is now proposing to change its policy to give priority to the children of school staff:

Insertion of new criterion 2:.
Children of staff at the school, in either of the following circumstances:
a) The member of staff has been employed at the school for two or more years at the time at which the application for admission to the school is made, or
b) The member of staff is recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage.

The school wishes to make this change to help it recruit and retain the best staff in what is an increasingly challenging market.  The quality of our staff is crucial to the quality of educational experience that we provide.  In any given year, the number of applications from school staff will be small and at a time of falling rolls, admitting these pupils is unlikely to have any significant effect on the overall admissions picture.
